Background

I started in IT at 15, working summer/winter/spring breaks as a helpdesk/network technician for an engineering firm in defense contracting. I continued through college full time, totaling seven years of hands-on support before moving into a systems administrator role at a Managed Services Provider (MSP). There I supported more than 50 small- and medium-sized businesses across the DMV area and began conducting security assessments and vulnerability scans for clients.

Seeking infrastructure-level experience, I joined AWS in Ashburn to support large-scale cloud environments behind the scenes in the data centers. I then served as the first cloud security intern on a seven-person cyber team at a large global company, where I focused on threat detection and log management. After that experience I ended up selecting a small federal health plan to continue my growth for 8 years, fine tuning my expertise in all areas related to cybersecurity. I continue to serve as their Security Program Manager today overseeing all aspects of organizational cyber risk.
